Antique double shop counter with shelves, taken out of a Post Office in a Herefordshire village. This is topped with the biggest single piece of oak I’ve seen.
Length: 245cm. Depth: 63cm. Height: 92cm.
Condition: the top is wonderful, and it looks perfect from the front and one side. It has at some time in the past been shortened, and so the end piece of the left side is not as pretty as the right side. It looks as though the front that we can see was once the part that faced into the shop, and was glazed for customers to see the display, and the back was open for the shopkeeper to reach in – this back section has been covered with a back board. If it were in the middle of a room, in a shop or as a kitchen island, it would be easy to remove the board, but if it were to be placed against a wall then the board could be kept if preferred. I’ve left it untouched so the buyer can decide.
